Professional Summary:

  • Badisa Matshego is a qualified Civil Engineer and Airport Planner, and an accomplished Corporate Executive, having obtained a B.Sc (Engineering) Civil from the University of KZN (formerly Durban-Westville) in 1999, and a Certificate in Airport Systems: Strategic Planning and Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2000. He have also completed an Advanced Executive Development Programme with WITS Business School (University of Witwatersrand) in 2012. He is currently pursuing a Master of Management (Entrepreneurship and New Venture Creation) at WITS Business School (University of Witwatersrand), in the process of completing his research module.
  • He is a former Group Executive: Infrastructure Asset Management and Director/Board member of 3 of its subsidiaries (JIA Piazza, Precinct 2A and Airport Logistics Property Holdings (ALPH), and La Mercy Joint Venture Company (LMJVC)) at the Airports Company South Africa SOC (ACSA) – (2015-2021), having also served as the Managing Executive: Corporate Real Estate Solutions (CRES) at Absa Group – (2021-2023), Executive Head: Property and Facilities Management & National Security at Vodacom – (2006-2015). He trained and served as a Senior Airport Planner at ACSA from 2000-2006, and an Engineer at Transnet Freight Rail (formerly Spoornet) between (1999-2000). He also served as an Accounting Authority at PRASA in 2020 on a secondment from ACSA.
  • He have conceptualized, planned, designed and project-directed/sponsored several key infrastructure programmes/projects throughout his professional career, notably key airside, terminal and lanside facilities at various airports under ACSA management, new ACSA Head Offices at ORTIA, new Head Offices for Absa Zambia, Absa Ghana, and key facilities for Absa CIB and top Executives.
  • He have conceptualized, planned, designed and project-directed/sponsored several key infrastructure programmes/projects throughout my professional career, notably key airside, terminal and lanside facilities at various airports under ACSA management, new ACSA Head Offices at ORTIA, new Head Offices for Absa Zambia, Absa Ghana, and key facilities for Absa CIB and top Executives.
  • His most recent corporate engagement is leading the Venue Infrastructure Planning, Design and Delivery Programme for the G20 Leader’s Summit in 2025, representing Multichoice as the Programme Director.
  • He is currently a Founder and Managing Partner of an Airport Infrastructure Consulting and Advisory firm, supporting professional teams participating in the delivery of key and supporting airport infrastructure, systems, and equipment, including maintenance engineering solutions, as well as formulation of airport development strategies and plans.
  • He bring a wealth of technical aviation experience, engineering, operations, capital programmes/projects planning and delivery expertise, talent acquisition, development and performance knowledge and stakeholder management competence to the Board of ATNS.
