Joining the ATNS Family ATNS is the sole air traffic and navigation services provider (ANSP) in South Africa and as such we strive to be an employer of choice. One of the ways they do this is by managing airspace slots and special event planning and by configuring our equipment. The technical experts in ATNS are responsible for the planning, specification, acquisition and implementation of the South African national aeronautical communication, navigation and surveillance system, equipment availability as well as the maintenance of existing ATNS systems. The engineering projects team is responsible for the specification, acquisition and project management of aeronautical communication, navigation and surveillance systems for ATNS. Careers: Engineers, senior engineers, technologists and management. >> Back to top Air Traffic Management (ATM) Planning The ATM Planning area is responsible for the planning, research and development efforts of ATNS with a particular focus on the conceptualisation, planning and design of the ATNS Air Traffic Management system in support of the ICAO standards and practices. Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) Planning The CNS Planning area is responsible for the research and development efforts of ATNS with a particular focus on the conceptualisation, planning and design of our communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) systems and infrastructure. Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) The AIS Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) area is responsible for the production of Aeronautical Documentation, airport surveys (WGS84), aeronautical chart design, flight procedure, airspace and route design and verification services. This section also maintains a specialist library of aviation related documentation. Safety and Regulations Oversight The Safety and Regulations Oversight area is responsible for the standards oversight and safety management system of ATNS which includes safety management policy development, monitoring and incident investigation. Risk, Security and Quality Assurance The Risk, Security and Quality area is responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of holistic quality, risk and security management policies within ATNS. They are the custodians of the Quality management system and the ISO 9000 certification. Careers: Risk specialists, Security specialists, QA specialists and management. The ATNS Training Academy is a department of ATNS which provides a full range of Air Traffic Services and Technical Support training, enrolment, course training and evaluation. The Business development department is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities both in South Africa and the rest of the African continent.
