Overview

This function is responsible for the holistic risk, security and quality management within ATNS.

Air Traffic Management (ATM) is defined as the dynamic, integrated management of air traffic and airspace, safely, economically, and efficiently through the provision of facilities and seamless services in collaboration with all partners. ATM includes those strategic and tactical elements which support the safe and efficient movement of air traffic, and incorporates facilities, resources (humans, technology, procedures, etc.) and information sub architectures.

ATM incorporates the resources to be managed that is:

      • Airspace Organisation and Management
      • Aerodrome Operations
      • Demand and Capacity Balancing
      • Traffic Synchronisation
      • Airspace User Operations
      • Management of Collision Risk
      • Information Management
      • ATM Service Delivery Management

The primary functions to be accomplished to enable flight from/to an aerodrome into airspace safely separated from other traffic, not beyond capacity limits, making optimum use of system resources.

The description of the above mentioned eight elements is based on realistic expectations of human capabilities and technology availability. Based on those considerations the elements are predicted on the under-mentioned common themes.

     • Safety
     • Human
     • Technology
     • Information
     • Continuity
