RPL (REPETITIVE FLIGHT PLAN)

RPL may be used for IFR scheduled flights and flights operated regularly on the same day(s) of consecutive weeks and on at least 10 occasions, or every day over a period of at least ten consecutive days, within the borders of South Africa.

How to file RPL’s

Initial Submission Operators wishing to file RPL’s are to submit the following information:

• Departure Aerodrome
• Date
• Serial number (n/a)
• Number of pages
• Supplementary data
• H/A
• Valid from
• Valid until
• Days of operation
• Aircraft operators
• Type of aircraft and wake turbelence category
• Departure aerodrome and time
• Route including cruising speed, flight level, EET's to FIR's
• Destination aerodrome and total elapsed time
• Remarks and alternate aerodrome

Changes to RPL Submissions

Changes of a permanent nature

Changes of a permanent nature, involving the inclusion of new flights to the current RPL listing shall require the operator to submit the information mentioned above, for the additional flights only.

Changes of a permanent nature, involving the cancellation or modification of the current RPL listing shall require the operator to submit the above information, for the cancelled or modified flights only, provided that the remarks category contains the specific modification, e.g. “Change in aircraft type”, “Cancel”, etc.

If it is anticipated that the RPL’s submitted will not change in the foreseeable future, the date indicated in category J (Valid Until) must list a date of 12 months from the date of commencement of the RPL. Airlines should ensure that the validity date be revised prior to the termination of the validity date. NOTE: The words “until further notice” in category J will not be accepted.

CAMU requires a notice period of thirty (30) days between submission of the changes of a permanent nature and implementation.

Changes of a temporary nature

Changes of a temporary, non-recurring nature relating to RPL’s concerning aircraft type and wake turbulence category, speed and/or cruising level should be notified for each individual flight as early as possible and not later than 30 minutes before departure to the ATS reporting office responsible for the departure aerodrome. A change of cruising level only may be notified by radiotelephony on initial contact with the ATS unit.

In case of an incidental change in the aircraft identification, the departure aerodrome, the route and/or the destination aerodrome, the RPL shall be cancelled for the day concerned and an individual flight plan shall be submitted.

A flight plan (RPL) filed with an ATSU prior to departure and which has not been activated or delayed within one hour of the estimated ETD, the flight plan will be regarded as cancelled and a new FPL is to be submitted by the operator.
