This service is conducted in accordance to ICAO Standards and recommended Practices (SARP’s), taking in consideration customer requirements. Abilities A full spectrum of design capabilities exist, from conventional non-precision approach charts, precision approach charts, standard arrival and standard departure charts through to GNSS and RNP instrument procedure charts. Furthermore, all charts as defined in ICAO Annex-4 can be provided. These include, but are not limited to, Aerodrome, Aerodrome Obstacle Type-A, Parking and Docking and En-Route charts. PHX Procedure design software is utilised for the development of all aeronautical charts. In addition to topographical data, WGS-84 survey data (airport and obstacle), AIP, AIP supplement and NOTAM data is incorporated into the design of aeronautical charts. All the processes are quality controlled to ensure flight safety, and quality assured in accordance with ISO 9001 standards. Achievements The Flight Procedures Section of the Aeronautical Information Services Department has been designing aeronautical charts for South Africa and for South African clients since the inception of ATNS in 1994.
