The Aviation Training Academy is a division of ATNS which provides a full range of Air Traffic Services, Technical Support and Related training. It is our vision to be a major contributing partner towards ensuring aviation safety in Africa, through our training efforts. We are committed to world best practices and we undertake to give each client the skills and knowledge to successfully take on the challenges faced by providers of Air Traffic Control and technical services.
We employ top quality instructors and personnel and we are proud of our state of the art equipment and facilities. Our motto is "LEARN TO SUCCEED" and we are dedicated to a quality service. In order to ensure a world class service, we are a ISO9001:2000 accredited institution and we have international co-operation partners. ATO Approval Number 0011/Scope: Air Traffic Services.

International Partners
Our co-operation agreement with the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City enables us to reciprocally present courses on each other's behalf and accredit each other's international ATS courses.
With a view to playing a more meaningful role in the global aviation arena, we are in the process of being accredited by the ICAO Trainair Unit.
We continue to enter into MOU's with other similar providers, such as the MOU with ASECNA, Algeria Enna, Sudan CAA, IATA and SACAA which is already in place.

The Management of the Academy is uncompromising in the maintenance of our Quality Management System in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 Code of Practice. To this end, we enjoy the full co-operation our Management Team and all of our employees, who understand the need to support and use the principles of quality management in combined pursuit of service excellence.
The Academy achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in November 1998 and we know that by observing the associated Code of Practice, we can continue to grow as an organisation and service provider as we enhance our service to our clients.
Accreditation
We believe that our accreditation does more than merely satisfy statutory requirements and ICAO SARPS, it also cements relationships with accrediting organisations which helps us to continuously improve our products and services.
Our trainers and courseware are accredited with the appropriate bodies considered to be leaders and experts in their fields of operation and we will continue to support this value adding concept of accreditation.
The certification required to achieve ISO 9001:2000 Code of Practice, has been maintained since 1998 while all our applicable services have achieved accreditation for both our trainers and courseware from the South African Civil Aviation Authority. We anticipate full ICAO TRAINAIR membership in the very near future.

Venues & Facilities
Our Aviation Training Academy is equipped to cater for Conferences and Seminars for up to 80 people. Each of our 13 different conference venues ranging from boardrooms to a large conference / auditorium room, are fully air-conditioned and provided with state of the art technology. We are able to provide additional audio visual equipment and catering if required.

Customised Courses
Because we understand that each client has unique training requirements to satisfy their individual needs, we are always pleased to tailor-make the appropriate course for the client - and we'll present the course on-site or at any venue our client may select, (where possible). We have in the recent past, simulated no less than 4 different airspaces to the client's specifications, in relevant South African conditions, and, when necessary have in addition conducted site-specific training, to round off the complete training experience. Naturally all such training fully satisfies the minimum requirement of ICAO.
Define and Develop Succession Plans
Taking care to offer a comprehensive service to our clients, we identified the need to provide advice on the definition and development of succession plans - of crucial importance to ensure the transfer of skills and continuous growth. We offer assistance in identifying appropriate personnel and training requirements to equip the company to overcome any challenges which the future may hold, ensuring the hassle free, ininterrupted flow of business. When developing each unique plan, improtant factors such as natural attrition, technological enhancements and organisational growth are considered in detail.
Evaluation of Existing Corporate Programmes
Constantly aware of the need to remain abreast and indeed ahead of ever changing trends, we at the Academy continuously review and update the training programmes and courses we offer, while at the same time evaluating opportunities to implement new courses as and when industry needs are identified. We welcome requests to adapt our own programmes to client specific requirements. Naturally we offer a similar service to our clients, examining the relevance of their internal programmes to assist them to adapt to their unique and dynamic industry environment.
ICAO Standards in Training
Because our Academy subscribes fully to ICAO SARPS and requirements, our clients are assured that the training we conduct enjoys international compliance. This is particularly so for our Air Traffic Courses which are even more stringently monitored in this respect.
Manpower Requirements
Once again recognising the fact that in order to deliver superior services, our clients require adequate human resources. We are particularly proud of our fine track record in defining optimum staffing levels for specific positions.
Performance Management
Through the experience we have gained within our own organisation, we understand the importance of managing, monitoring and measuring performance standards within the organisation. Our Academy offers our clients, a consultancy service to introduce and document a measurable performance management system which will identify the breakdown and distribution of work, assign responsibilities, accountabilites and authorities and ensure overall organisational efficiency.
Recruitment of new personnel
When our clients select the Academy to assist them with their recruitment needs, they can take advantage of the combined operational and management experience of all the Academy staff, who all play a role in assisting our clients to identify suitable incumbents for long term imployment, filling vacancies or recruiting new staff at a junior level.
Training Needs Assessment
Fundamental to the success of any training programme, is the relevance and applicability of the programme. Existing and protential clients of The Academy can leave this important task to our training specialists and subject matter experts, who will identify specific requirements for courses or offer customised solutions by adapting existing courses.
